Dear OPA Families,
We hope you are having a fantastic weekend! This week we will be hosting Open House on
Wednesday, March 9th from 5-7pm and a fundraiser at All Star Pizza. We hope you can join us!

Mask Guidance Update

During a press conference earlier today, Dr. Mark Ghaly, California Health and Human Services Secretary, announced that California’s indoor mask order for schools will be downgraded to a “strong recommendation” on March 12, 2022. Also, in a joint news release, the governors of California, Oregon and Washington cited declining case rates and hospitalizations as the basis for easing face-covering requirements for students and staff on public and private school campuses.

February 28, 2022

On Wednesday, March 2nd we will be celebrating Read Across America day. We will have a
school-wide reading event on the field in which our 4th-8th grade students will partner with
TK-3rd grade students to read. We will also have opportunities for our Virtual Learning Students
to read to a class on that day through zoom. We encourage all students and staff to dress as their
favorite Dr. Seuss character.

Dear OPA Families,
I am excited to announce that Mr. T and Ms. White will be leading our marching band and color
guard in the 51st Annual Festival of Whales Parade in Dana Point on Saturday, March 5th at
10:00 a.m. Please join us! This will be a great event and an excellent opportunity for our
Champions to showcase their talent.

Dear OPA Families,
On Tuesday, February 8th we had our second (LCAP) Educational Partner Meeting. This
meeting was about the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). If you did not get a chance to
join us, you can view the presentation on our school website (LINK) and you can join us for our
next meeting on April 20th.

I hope you are having a great weekend with your loved ones. This
weeek we are celebrating National School Counseling Week!
National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous
impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve
school success. Oxford Preparatory Academy honours our
school counselor Ms. Kochan for implementing a comprehensive
school counseling program.

Dear OPA Families,
This week we celebrated Kindness and School of Choice week. Our Theme for the week is “OPA
Chooses Kindness”. Our PAL students led this week’s
events. Throughout the week they have been creating a
kindness chain made of kindness notes from all students.
Each day we had a dress up day. Follow us on Instagram to

I hope you had a restful weekend! This week we are celebrating School Choice and
Kindness Challenge Week. Our theme this year is OPA CHOOSES KINDNESS!
You can help us spread the word about why you chose OPA South Orange County as
your school of choice by sharing your experience on Niche. This site provides in-depth
school and college profiles to help students and families find and enroll in the right
school for them.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this first week back after our winter break.
With the recent surge in Covid cases, we ask parents, students, and employees to be extra
vigilant with safety mitigation measures. We all must do our part to reduce the spread of this
virus to the greatest extent possible. You must keep your child home if they are sick or exhibiting
any COVID-19 symptoms – no matter how minor those symptoms may seem.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful and safe winter break with your loved ones. We
are looking foward to welcoming our Champions and staff on Monday, January 10th.
On Friday, January 7th, we had the opportunity to offer each of our students and staff an Antigen
Rapid COVID test. We had a significant number of families pick up tests who were so grateful
and kind to us when we were distributing them. If you did not have an opportunity to pick one
up on Friday, you may do the following:
