Chancellor's Message 12/5/21

Dear OPA Families, This year, it has been challenging to have our community of students, parents and staff together due to the pandemic restrictions and health guidelines. We have been creative and will continue to look at ways to provide the opportunity for us to share quality time as a community. Join us and show your support for OPA’s Choir this Wednesday, December 8th at the Festival of Lights at Tanaka Farms. They will be performing at 5:00pm and 7:00pm.

Chancellor's Message 11/28/21

Dear OPA Families,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones and a relaxing week! It is hard
to believe that we only have three weeks of instruction in December before we go on Winter
break for three weeks December 20th through January 7th.
Since our Champions have been on break for a week, it is important that we work as a team to
set up our students for success when they return to school tomorrow morning. Our OPA families
can support us by making sure our students are ready and prepared for school and by reviewing
the CHAMP Expectations on the chart below. Our Champions are Compassionate, Honest,
Accountable, Mindful, and Prepared.

A special thanks to our virtual families and professor who joined us. Next, is our 5th Grade
Meet-Up on Tuesday, November 30th at Barcelona Park. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones and enjoy the much needed
break! Our school office will be closed this upcoming November 22nd - November 26th.

Chancellor's Message 11/15/21

Dear OPA Families,
Oxford Preparatory Academy has partnered with the Orange County Department of Education to
host a Cyberbullying virtual presentation for OPA families on Thursday, November 18th at
6:00pm. Due to the recent incident with students creating an account to post pictures and
comments about other students, we highly encourage all middle school parents to join us and
take advantage of this opportunity which you will find helpful. This presentation will be
beneficial whether your student has or does not have a social media account. The virtual
presentation focus areas will include: social media trends, information literacy, privacy and
security, addressing and reporting cyberbullying, and parent/child communication.

Chancellor's Message 11/7/21

Dear OPA Families,
All Champions will be
engaged in writing benchmark assessments between November 1st - 12th. Each year, our
students engage in Informative, Narrative and Opinion/Argument writing. Our professors focus
on one type of writing per trimester. At the end of each trimester, our grade level teams will
collaborate and share writing samples from their classes to determine areas of growth and areas
of strength and share ideas.

We had a fabulous Literature Day on Friday! In this annual school event, students and staff
dressed as a character from their chosen book. We had a school-wide serpentine parade,
classroom activities, arts and crafts and read-alouds in each classroom by all of our staff . The
intent is to celebrate and encourage reading while having a fun-filled day of activities. Thank you
to all the parents who put together goodie bags with pre-packaged items and donated items to
make this day a special event for our Champions. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Chancellor's Message 10/24/21

Dear OPA Families, This week we are
celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is the Nation’s oldest and largest drug
prevention awareness campaign. Today, millions of people celebrate it.
We will begin our week with a visit from Deputy Murphy from the OC Sheriff’s Department
who will present information to our students about the meaning of Red Ribbon Week and living
a healthy drug free life. Students will then participate in theme days (see list below), recess
activities, and class posters in support of Red Ribbon Week.

Chancellor's Message 10/17/21

Dear OPA Families,
On Friday we had a fabulous ABC Fashion Show hosted by our Kinder Professors Ms. Bova and
Mr. Rechtien. Prior to the fashion show, parents and students developed creative designs to
highlight the letter of the alphabet their Champion was representing. During the show our Kinder
students were proud and excited as they walked down the red carpet. Parents were able to view
the fashion show through Zoom. Thank you families for your support and participation and a
special thank you to our awesome professors Ms. Bova and Mr. Rechtien.
