Any family who did not submit an online application and is interested in applying for Independent Study for the upcoming school year should complete an IS application.

Take a Tour – Attend an IS Informational Meeting
Independent Study Tours/Meetings are for new families who are interested in learning more about Oxford Prep’s Independent Study Program for enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year. We offer available IS positions to families who have completed an IS application and who have attended an IS tour/meeting. If you have not already submitted an IS application, please do so prior to attending a tour.
At the IS parent meeting/tour the IS Coordinator will explain the details of our IS program and what will be expected of you and your child. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions so that your family has a complete understanding of how the Independent Study Program.

Independent Study Meetings will take place on the following dates:
Please check in at the front office 15 minutes before the tour begins to ensure the tours start on time. Tours take about 1-2 hours and do not require prior registration. Children are welcome to attend.
Criteria for Enrollment and Placement
For a student to achieve success in the Independent Study Program, it is essential to demonstrate:
- The desire to participate in an alternative education program which features an alternative instructional strategy.
- The ability to work independently to complete assignments that meet grade level and course objectives.
- The ability for parents to establish regular attendance patterns for meetings with the teacher once every twenty (20) school days.
Steps to Enroll in Independent Study
Families, who are interested in the Independent Study Program, should:
- Submit an Independent Study Application to the IS Coordinator
- Attend an Independent Study Informational Meeting/Tour
When the IS Application is completed and received by the Independent Study Department you will receive a confirmation your application has been received. Independent Study applications are then reviewed to determine what level of service can be offered and if there is a position available. Upon acceptance into the Independent Study Program, the parent is contacted by the Independent Study Coordinator to schedule an orientation date to meet their teacher.
