Friday Message 10/23/2020

October 23, 2020

 Dear OPA Families,

It has been a great week as we welcomed many of our OPA students back to campus for hybrid learning. It was wonderful to see students in person as well as on Zoom this week! Everyone worked extremely hard to prepare the campus for a safe start to hybrid learning, and it was a great success.

For all families, please make sure to access your student’s new schedule on Aeries in order to ensure that students are attending classes at the correct time. If you have any questions about your student’s schedule or if there are any issues with overlapping classes, please reach out to your student’s professor. All students should be attending core classes (math, ELA, Social Studies, science, and PE) each week. Students in different grade levels may also have music or foreign language as well.

Next week we will be having Literature Day activities on Friday. Because this will be a slightly different Literature Day experience than in the past and it will be entirely virtual, please refer to your students’ professors for more information. But we are still excited to continue our Literature Day tradition, just in a new way this year!

For those families that are participating in the hybrid model, please make sure that you are following the pick-up and drop off procedures. Ensure that your car tag is visible each day. Also, if your student is walking off of campus to meet you, please let your student know where you will be meeting them. This meet-up location should be off campus, not on the sidewalks within the parking lot. Also, for health reasons, please do not congregate in large groups while waiting for students to be dismissed.

I want to give a huge thank you to all of our OPA staff, students, and families for making the transition to hybrid learning so smooth. Everyone has been incredibly flexible and has worked so hard to make this a success for our students, both those that returned to in-person instruction and those that remained virtual. OPA is truly an amazing school community and by working together, we have overcome so many obstacles this year. I am grateful for each of you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our admin team or your school chancellor with any suggestions or feedback. It is because of everyone’s contributions that OPA has been so successful throughout these difficult times. Please stay safe, stay healthy, and have a wonderful weekend OPA!!

Sincerely,

The OPA Administrative Team
